For our fourth webinar in this series, Dr. Susan R. Madsen will moderate a discussion with Kacie Malouf, co-founder of Malouf Companies, co-owner of Downeast, and co-founder of the PHASE Alliance and the Malouf Foundation, along with Trina Limpert, CEO and RizeNext Corp. and co-founder of Tech-Moms. Both women have been founders and CEOs and have impressive backgrounds in creating nonprofits. They have also managed and prioritized life so they can achieve success at work. Designing Corporate Women’s Networks, Initiatives, and Leadership Programs
Workshop/Training
This workshop is designed specifically for company representatives who are interested in creating, designing, developing, or restructuring women’s networks, groups, programs, and/or other initiatives in their organizations. Current and future leaders of women’s groups/networks and corporate leaders involved in these strategic initiatives are invited to participate. Based on the latest research, Dr. Susan R. Madsen will teach attendees about the types of efforts, programs, and designs have been showed to be effective in supporting and advancing women in workplace settings. There will be opportunities for attendees to share best practices and ideas as well. The afternoon will consist of engaging presentations, small group conversations, and individual activities. This Utah Women & Leadership Project (UWLP) offering is designed to provide attendees with 1) tools to design and development effective programs and initiatives, 2) opportunities to network with those doing similar work in other companies, and 3) resources to help Utah employees obtain additional career development experiences and opportunities in the community.

The Impact of Women’s Health on Work and Life
Panel Discussion/Presentation
For our fifth webinar in this series, Dr. Susan R. Madsen will moderate a panel discussion with Dr. Julie Hanks (a licensed therapist, coach, author, relationship expert, media contributor, blogger, speaker, and performing songwriter) and Dr. Audrey A. Jiricko (OBGYN and Senior Medical Director for Women’s Health for Intermountain Health). This conversation will focus not only on the importance of women’s mental and physical health and how it impacts overall wellbeing, but also how it impacts career advancement at work, relationships at home, and engagement in the community. This discussion will also focus on why Utah ranks as one of the worst states for women’s preventative healthcare, mammography and depression rates, and violence against women, along with what can be done to change this. Dr. Madsen will also ask questions related to some of the most pressing needs in Utah and how to prioritize this work at the individual, organizational, and systems levels to ensure positive change. And finally, Drs. Hanks and Jiricko will discuss their own passions, careers, and decision to make this work a priority in their lives. Join this webinar to learn about women’s health and wellbeing.

Building Bridges: Leading as Women in Local Government
Panel Discussion/Presentation
For our seventh webinar in this series, Dr. Susan R. Madsen will moderate a discussion with Michelle Kaufusi, Mayor of Provo City, and Dawn Ramsey, Mayor of South Jordan City. This conversation will begin with a focus on why the panelists are passionate about leading in such dynamic and complex settings, along with what brings them joy in doing such work. As they share stories about their career paths, they will also discuss what elements they find most challenging and inspiring at the same time. Dr. Madsen will also ask them questions about the foundational skills and abilities they think are important, especially for women, in leading in public spaces like local government. This includes how they have built bridges with individuals from all walks of life and with organizations that may have competing interests. Next, mayors Kaufusi and Ramsey will discuss their passions around lifting and supporting other women, as well as sharing their thoughts on what needs to improved in Utah to ensure that more girls and women—and their families—thrive. Bellwether Real Estate Case Competition

Bellwether Asset Management is hosting a commercial real estate debt case competition at the Huntsman School of Business on February 4th. Teams will be engaged to underwrite and present their conclusions on a potential loan origination. The winning team from each area universities will be invited to the final round, where they will present on a second case prompt focused on debt asset management and portfolio structure to industry leaders at Bellwether’s Salt Lake City Office. Madsen will interview Maura Carabello, President and Owner of The Exoro Group, on her thoughts about the role of women in politics, policy, strategy, communication, problem-solving, and change work in today’s world. This webinar focuses on one woman leader who has made a difference in Utah and beyond for decades. Dr. Susan R. Madsen will interview Gail Miller, co-founder and owner of the Larry H. Miller Company and chair of the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation. Considered a female pioneer in the business world, Gail credits her mother for teaching her what courage is, a lesson she would lean on after Larry’s death in 2009. Gail became the leader of more than 80 companies, the family foundation, and even had the final say on who played on the Utah Jazz. Her courage, vision, and commitment to making a difference have amplified the Larry H. Miller Company’s legacy of business leadership, community building, and philanthropic giving throughout the state. Gail will share inspiring lessons she has learned from her unexpected journey. Utah SHRM Case Competition

The Huntsman School of Business is proud to host the 2025 Utah SHRM Case Competition on Saturday, March 22nd. This “realistic job preview” challenges teams to apply HR knowledge, ethical decision-making, and strong communication skills to solve a business case. Teams will have one week to prepare a written executive summary and a 15-minute oral presentation. On competition day, they’ll present to a panel of judges and answer questions on their case. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top teams in the undergraduate and graduate divisions based on their combined scores for written and oral presentations.
