Start of POW/MIA 24-hr Vigil

Special Event

USU AFROTC Detachment 860 will host a 24-hour vigil with uniformed guards honoring America’s prisoners of war (POW) and those soldiers still considered missing in action (MIA) in observance of Veterans Day. To start this vigil, an AFROTC cadet Honor Guard will post the colors on the Quad in front of a cadet formation. Spectators may observe the start of the vigil, and any portion, during the 24-hour period (5pm, 10 Nov, to 5pm, 11 Nov). POW and MIA service members are honored on Veterans Day, not Memorial Day, because they have not yet been officially declared Killed in Action.

Bread and Soup Night

Special Event

It has been several years since we have had this event on campus, but we plan to have a one-night event on November 21, 2022, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM! Please join us in the Multi-purpose room of the student center to enjoy hot soup and fresh-baked rolls.

Everyone is welcome.
For the price of $8.00, patrons will receive two tickets, each good toward 1 bowl of soup and a roll.
We will have Chicken noodle and Tomato for soup options and 4 different bread choices!

This is a wonderful event that brings students, staff, faculty, and community together for a good cause. All proceeds will be donated to the USU Eastern food pantry to help students in need that have trouble accessing food.

We hope to see you there!

Sensory Evaluation Test for Slushy Drinks

Special Event

Dr. Silvana Martini’s research team in the Department of Nutrition, Dietetics, and Food Sciences are conducting a sensory evaluation test for mocha and coffee flavored slushy drinks. Participants will be asked to taste 5 samples of slushy drinks and rate their degree of liking using a 9-point hedonic scale (1 = dislike extremely, 9 = like extremely). The test will take approximately 15 min of your time including the screening process and signing the informed consent. Recruitment and screening of individuals will be performed via e-mail. Tasting will be performed on Nov 29th and Nov 30th starting at 9 am at NFS 209 until at least 60 participants are recruited. Participants will be compensated with $5 for their participation. If you are interested in participating, please contact Dr. Silvana Martini (Silvana.martini@usu.edu)
