String Chamber Music - Spring Recital

This concert showcases the students of the USU String and Piano Programs. Students dedicate their semester to the intensive study of masterpieces from the chamber music repertoire under the guidance of the Fry Street Quartet and the USU Piano Faculty. This concert will include the works of Haydn, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Dvorak, and Schubert.

USU Symphony Orchestra: A Farewell Concert
Arts/Entertainment
Fare Dr. Sergio Bernal well in his last concert as Music Director of the USU Symphony Orchestra that culminates his 23-year teaching career at Utah State University.
Enjoy the fantasy world of Robert Schumann’s Piano Concerto, featuring faculty soloist Dr. Sasha Kasman Laude, and Schumann’s eternally optimistic Spring Symphony!
Symphonic Band

Concerts are part of the band large ensemble curriculum. As capstone events, they typically occur twice per semester. Students are required to participate in these events as a large part of their grades, and these concerts are the culmination of several weeks of classroom rehearsals. All concerts are associated with one or more of the band ensembles: MUSC 4700 Wind Orchestra MUSC 3795 Wind Symphony MUSC 3790 Symphonic Band MUSC 3785 Marching Band.

The Utah State University Wind Orchestra, conducted by Director of Bands Thomas P. Rohrer, will hold its annual spring concert on April 19, 2024, at 7:30 PM in Daines Concert Hall on the USU campus. The event, honoring Dr. Jon Gudmundson’s 21 years as Professor of Saxophone and Director of Jazz Studies, will feature special alumni guests and tributes to his contributions. The concert will include a mix of classical and jazz pieces, showcasing Dr. Gudmundson’s diverse expertise and lasting impact on the university’s music department. Attendees can also enjoy comments from faculty and alumni, as well as a saxophone solo by one of Dr. Gudmundson’s former students.

This vocal recital features Emma Dombroski, soprano, accompanied by Sarah Hamatake on piano and Roque Deschamps on lute. Represented composers include Henry Purcell, Bedrich Smetana, Joseph Marx, Joaquín Turina, and Neil McKay. This recital is free, no tickets required.
