Soldering Workshop (IEEE)

Come learn the basics of soldering as well as the basics of printed circuit board part identification, board cleaning, and equipment maintenance.
Lightning Talks (SWE)
Student Activities
A Ted-Talk-like event where presenters with industry experience speak on important skills and topics that will grow you as future engineers. Dinner included.

Egg Drop (E-Council)
Student Activities
Come test your engineering skills and see how long you can keep an egg from being destroyed when dropped! Supplies will be provided.
Spaghetti Tower Contest (Tutoring Center)
Student Activities
Come build towers with hard spaghetti and marshmallows! There will be two types of competitions: 1. Highest Spaghetti Tower and 2. Which tower can hold the most weight.

Cardboard Boat Races (E-Council)

Will you be walking the plank at cardboard boat races? Form a team, and build a boat with only a list of rules and your imagination; many will enter but only one will emerge victorious and mostly dry… Are you on board?

Brandon Sanderson Trivia Contest (EWB)
Student Activities
Come in groups of 3-5 people and test your Brandon Sanderson book knowledge. The winning team will receive a Brandon Sanderson-related prize!
Trivia Bowl (SWE)
Student Activities
Join the USU Chapter of the Society of Women Engineers for STEM-related trivia at community night where there will be prizes for engineering students and community members!
Késhjéé Navajo Shoe Game
Student Activities
Come learn and play! We'll have a guest speaker to tell us stories before we play. What is Késhjéé? Shoe game is played in the winter time and people connect by singing songs about how the animals discussed how natural order of things change such as the cycles of day and night. Traditional foods will be served. All USU students, faculty and staff are invited to come participate or observe.

Legacy of Val Day of Service: Fuller Center for Housing
Student Activities
Join the Christensen Office of Social Action and Sustainability as we lend a hand at the Fuller Center for Housing's thrift store. This organization's thrift store specializes in building materials-- think like a mash up of Home Depot and Goodwill. We will be sorting donations and tidying the store, making the products look great so that customers can find what they're looking for. Proceeds from the thrift store go to fund critical home repairs for Cache Valley community members with low incomes. The thrift store also diverts usable materials from the landfill! We plan to be indoors, but there's a chance that some tasks will take place outside, so dress for the weather. Close-toed shoes are a good option, since donations can be sharp or heavy. Optional car pool will leave from the black lot (just east of the Legacy Fields, look for someone holding a USU flag).
USU Eastern Service Region Debate

We would like to invite you to the debate happening in the JLSC Cafeteria starting at 11:30 AM Friday, February 24, 2023. It will involve our candidates running for student-elected positions on our campus.
The debate is for the following:

Eastern Service Region Director of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
Eastern Service Region Director of Student Events
Eastern Service Region Student Advocate

Students voting for these positions will take place starting at 9:00 AM on Monday, February 27 through Tuesday, February 28th.
Also, All USU students will elect officers (Executive Leadership Board) to represent the entire state between Wednesday, February 22, and Thursday, February 23. You can view their profiles at elections.usu.edu
Balsa Bridge Testing (ASCE)
Student Activities
Students will be able to test their bridge-building skills by building a bridge with Balsa wood and testing it under pressure. Students can get the materials packet with instructions on how to build the bridge from the CEE Offices on the Second Floor of the Engineering Lab early in the week. After students have time during the week to build their bridges, they can bring completed bridges to the Atrium to be tested. Bridge packets will also be available for pick-up the week prior.

Come join the ANS club and show us what you know about nuclear energy by participating in our team trivia event! Working in teams is recommended.
