From campus lab to start-up and beyond: The role of intellectual property in entrepreneurship

Intellectual property law has evolved since then, including provisions to promote the commercialization of federally funded research at universities. This presentation introduces several types of intellectual property, describes how patents generally promote investment in technology and product development and then looks specifically at the commercialization of university research.
