USU's AAEO Office Updates Name to Office of Equity

Alison Adams-Perlac leads the Office of Equity.

Utah State University’s Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Office is updating its name to the Office of Equity, effective August 1. The name change not only reflects the growth of the office and its areas of oversight, but also better reflects the services the office provides.

“We wanted a name that embodies everything we do and everything that we have a responsibility to address,” said Alison Adams-Perlac, executive director for the Office of Equity.

The Office of Equity enforces USU policies to ensure an equitable environment, free of sexual misconduct and discrimination. It provides prevention education, supportive measures and many other resources dedicated to this effort. The office also works to create a diverse community of students, faculty and staff.

USU President Noelle Cockett has made a commitment to establish an inclusive campus culture where everyone feels that they belong. As such, many administrative and staff updates have been made in the newly named Office of Equity as part of that commitment.

Adams-Perlac, who joined as executive director in January 2019, has more than 10 years of experience as an attorney, including extensive work on projects addressing disparate impacts on minorities and underrepresented Utahns.
