Utah Water Watch Tier I Online Training

Workshop/Training

Utah Water Watch (UWW) is a volunteer water quality monitoring program. Our goal is to empower Utahns to learn and share knowledge about their local watersheds and practice good stewardship. Data collected is shared in a public database and with local water managers. UWW is a free program and is open to volunteers of all ages. Volunteering is a fun way to learn more about water quality and help protect lakes and streams in Utah! There are 3 steps to become a volunteer: 1. Fill out the volunteer registration form. You only need to fill out this form once. 2. Attend a workshop and become certified (click the orange "Reserve a spot" button to register for this specific training). 3. Work with the coordinator to choose a site to monitor. For more information, please visit our Utah Water Watch website. Once you register for this event and fill out the volunteer registration form, you are good to go! You will receive an email from Utah Water Watch a few days before the event with a link to join on the date of your training. If you have any questions, or do not receive an email with a link to join the online training by the day before the event, please contact us. Questions? Cont

“A Bolder Way Forward” Launch Event

Meeting

This event is the formal launch of Utah’s “A Bolder Way Forward” (BWF), which focuses on making Utah a place where more girls and women can thrive in any setting (e.g., home, workplace, congregation, and community). This initiative focuses on creating change in Utah faster, better, and more effectively.

National and statewide studies continue to show that women and girls in Utah are not thriving in critical areas. Year after year, Utah continues to have high levels of domestic violence, sexual assault, child sexual abuse, and gender-based discrimination, while also ranking as the worst state for women’s equality and having low levels of women’s leadership representation in nearly all domains, including politics and business. Although the needle has moved slightly in a few areas, with its current trajectory it will take two, three, or even four decades to make notable progress. It is time for Utah to embrace a BWF, because when we lift Utah girls and women, we lift all Utahns!

Come and join us for this gathering to learn more and then dig in during the working lunch to dialogue about how to move forward and identify critical next steps. Be part of the solution!

SER Pollinator Garden Stewardship Event

Special Event

Join us Friday, June 9, 4-6 pm for a pollinator garden stewardship event at the Bear River Land Conservancy’s Mendon Meadow Preserve In September 2022, volunteers from the Great Basin and USU chapters of the Society for Ecological Restoration (SER) partnered with the Conservancy to establish pollinator-friendly plants in a part of the Preserve that had been invaded by non-native weeds. As part of SER’s Make A Difference Week, we will help maintain the site by removing weeds and assessing seedling survival after an unusually long, snowy winter. See the link for details on where to go and what to bring.
