The Perception of Pictures

Dr. Martin Banks, from the University of California at Berkeley, will discuss perceptual basis of natural-looking pictures. In this presentation, he will examine perceived spatial distortions in wide-angle pictures and perceived depth in pictures taken with different focal lengths. "Understanding the perceptual basis of these guidelines provides insight into how to construct photographs, perspective paintings, and computer-graphic images for more effective visual communication." Request flyer for details and bio. Refreshments following the presentation.
