Presidents Day Weekend Blind Hollow Yurt Trip

Recreation

We are heading up to the Blind Hollow yurt spend the long holiday weekend enjoying the Bear River backcountry. We will explore some of the fantastic riding terrain around Blind Hollow and spend the evenings around the fire in the comforts of the OP's Mongolian-Style yurt. Some backcountry experience is recommended and participants must be expert/advanced riders (able to comfortably ride black diamond western resort terrain). Participants must be in good physical condition and prepared for strenuous uphill hiking. Winter backcountry travel equipment(Alpine Touring, Telemark, Splitboard) are required and available to rent from the OP for a nominal fee. NO SNOWSHOES. All participants must abide by OP and University Policies.

Entrepreneur Leadership Series: Nate Orchard and Jake Webber

Nate Orchard, a former NFL player, began his career with Advanced Window Products after seven years in the NFL. Nate started his journey to the NFL at the University of Utah, followed by playing on multiple pro teams. Once his NFL career was over, he decided to follow the path of business. He is now the Head of Installation for Advanced Window Products and an expert in his field committed to ensuring all projects are completed to high standards of excellence and customer satisfaction.

Jake Webber is the Head of Marketing for Advanced Window Products. After positions at Taft, Snap Finance, and EY he decided to partner at Advanced Window Products with Nate Orchard. Jake brings creativity and strategic vision to the forefront of the company’s promotional efforts. With his background in strategy, he creates innovative and strategic marketing campaigns that not only showcase the technical advantages the company’s window products provide, but also emphasize the aesthetic aspects that set them apart.

Nate and Jake bought Advanced Window Products in October of 2022 and have had increasing success since the acquisition. They are dedicated to being more than just a window and door company, they are a team that improves their customers' homes and lives.

Reimagining the Streets About the Lecture: My talk, “Reimagining the Streets” will focus on my work at NYC DOT centered around using new and emerging practices and technologies to improve the way people experienced traveling and being in the built environment in New York City. This work has incorporated the use of new data sources, new methodologies, and new initiatives. I plan to share a bit of the journey, lessons learned along the way, and where I see the transportation world going in the future. Speaker Bio: Justin Romeo is the Director of Special Projects, in the Transportation Planning and Management Division of the New York City Department of Transportation. He is a transportation professional working to improve the mobility options that exiting within cities through the use of data, policy, and emerging transportation technologies. Full Moon Snowshoe Hike

Recreation

Come spend an evening snowshoeing under the glow of a full moon. Be sure to dress warm for the cooler temperatures after dark. No snowshoeing experience is necessary, beginners are most welcome. Participants must be prepared for moderate physical activity in a winter environment. Trip cost includes snowshoe rental and transportation. Pre-Trip Meeting: NA (You will be contacted by OP trip leaders 24 hours before the hike with trip details and logistics) All participants must have health insurance and abide by OP and University Policies.

In 1925, while chasing fame and fortune by turning a Kentucky cave into a tourist attraction, Floyd Collins himself becomes the attraction when he is trapped 200 feet underground.

Beginner Backcountry Ski Tour

Recreation

Come grab some backcountry turns with us! We will venture into the Bear River backcountry to seek out snow that you can't get to on a ski lift. Learn some of the basics of backcountry travel and safety. No backcountry experience is required but you must be comfortable riding double blue to black diamond resort terrain. Participants must be prepared for strenuous hiking. Backcountry touring skis or splitboard with skins are required and available to rent for an additional $10+tax for trip participants. NO SNOWSHOES. Trip cost includes transportation, avalanche beacon, shovel, probe and student leadership.
