Water Management, Politics Topic for Oct. 7 Water Initiative Seminar

Utah State University’s Water Initiative welcomes social ecologist and author Helen Ingram to campus Tuesday, Oct. 7.  Ingram presents “Beyond Universal Remedies for Good Water Governance: A Political and Contextual Approach” at 4:45 p.m. in the Engineering building, room 103. Her talk is free and open to all.
 
Ingram is professor emeritus and research fellow at the Southwest Center, University of Arizona and professor emeritus at the University of California, Irvine. She is the author, co-author or editor of numerous books, including Reflections on Water: New Approaches to Transboundary Conflicts and Cooperation and Water and Poverty in the Southwest.
 
Upcoming Water Initiative Seminar speakers include Arjun Heimsath, Arizona State University, Oct. 21; Peter Ffolliet, University of Arizona, Nov. 4 and Dennis Lettenmaier, University of Washington, Nov. 18. The seminars, free and open to all, are held at 3:15 p.m. in the Engineering building, room 101.
 
The USU Water Initiative is an interdisciplinary collaboration of the university’s Utah Water Research Laboratory, the colleges of Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences, Natural Resources, Science, Engineering, Agriculture and the Huntsman School of Business. Established in 2003, the initiative fosters collegial sharing of water-related research and ideas throughout campus and the community.
