Utah State [University] men’s basketball was recognized with three awards when the Mountain West announced its all-conference teams Tuesday [March 10, 2015], marking the most postseason conference accolades for USU since the 2011 season.

Sophomore wing Jalen Moore (North Logan, Utah) was named all-Mountain West second-team after leading Utah State in scoring and rebounding throughout the year. Moore ranked in the top-10 of the league with 15.0 points (sixth) and 6.4 rebounds (eighth) per game during conference play. In addition, Moore also appeared in the top-10 in field goal percentage (.495, third), defensive rebounds per game (5.4, sixth), minutes per game (34.9) and free throw percentage (.731, ninth).

Redshirt freshman forward David Collette (Murray, Utah) earned all-Mountain West third-team honors after leading the league in field goal percentage, shooting 58.9 percent (89-of-151) from the floor. Collette was also among the top-20 of the league in scoring and rebounding with 11.7 (16th) and 4.9 (18th) per game, respectively. Collette also finished fifth in blocks per game, averaging 2.0 rejections per contest.

Junior guard Chris Smith (Sacramento, Calif.) rounded out the honorees for Utah State, earning all-Mountain West honorable mention. Smith proved to be the most deadly long ranger shooter in the conference this season, leading the Mountain West behind the 3-point line with a 51.3 percent (39-of-76) clip during conference play. Smith was also among the top-10 in 3-point field goals made (2.2, fifth) and scoring (13.8 ppg, ninth).

The three all-conference accolades are the most for Utah State since the 2011 season when the Aggies also garnered three all-conference nods in Tai Wesley (first-team), Brockeith Pane (first-team) and Brian Green (second-team). USU went on to capture the team’s sixth conference tournament title and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the eighth time under head coach Stew Morrill.

Utah State will look for similar success when the Aggies open competition in the Mountain West Tournament Thursday afternoon, March 12, in a quarterfinal matchup with Wyoming at 3:30 p.m. (MT). Fans can watch the game live on the CBS Sports Network (Comcast Ch. 269/753HD, Dish Network Ch. 158, DirecTV Ch. 221) with Dave Ryan providing play-by-play, Bob Wenzel as the analyst and Evan Washburn as the sideline reporter.
