Utah State Organ Student Eric Gunderson Selected as Guest Organist

Utah State University student Eric Gundersen has been selected to be a guest organist at the Salt Lake Tabernacle for a period of six months. Gundersen is a student of Utah State faculty member James Drake, who made the announcement.

Gundersen began his study at Utah State with Drake in 2001 following study at Ricks College (now BYU-Idaho) with Darwin Wolford.

"This is a singular honor for Eric," Drake said. "The organ recitals at the Salt Lake Tabernacle are attended by visitors from all over the world."

Gundersen will play a number of daily recitals during his time as a guest organist. His selection caps a rigorous audition process, Drake said.

So far Gundersen has performed two recital programs in Salt Lake. He is responsible for selecting the recital program that runs 30–35 minutes. Coming performance dates include Feb. 9, April 13 and May 3.
