Utah State Football Receiving Votes in Coaches Poll Again

Following its 34-24 Mountain West home win against Colorado State this past weekend, Utah State football is receiving votes in the Amway Coaches poll for the second-straight week as it garnered 15 votes to rank 36th in the nation.
 
Utah State garnered nine votes in last week's Coaches poll to rank 35th in the nation along with Minnesota. USU began the season by receiving 32 votes in the Coaches poll and eight votes in The Associated Press poll, to rank 35th and 37th, respectively.
 
Overall, Utah State has now been nationally ranked or receiving votes in 13 of the last 16 Amway Coaches Polls.
 
Utah State, which is currently 3-1 on the season and 2-0 in Mountain West play, concludes non-conference action this weekend with a road game at fifth-ranked LSU (4-0, 1-0 SEC) on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 10 a.m. (MT). The game will be televised nationally on the SEC Network (Xfinity Ch. 286, DISH Ch. 404, DirecTV Ch. 661).
 
Utah State is 14-3 (.824) in its last 17 games and 8-4 in its last 12 road games. During those 12 road games, USU is averaging 36.6 points and 431.2 yards of total offense (245.4 passing, 185.8 rushing). USU has also scored at least 30 points seven times and has had at least 500 yards total offense five times in its last 12 road games.
 
Utah State is also 19-4 (.826) in its last 23 games under head coach Gary Andersen, which includes an 8-3 road record, and those four losses are by a combined nine points.
 
Offensively, Utah State is led by junior QB Jordan Love, who is 105-of-162 (.648) passing for 1,207 yards (301.8 ypg) with six touchdowns and five interceptions. Junior RB Jaylen Warren leads the team in rushing with 335 yards on 50 carries (6.7 ypc/83.8 ypg) with four touchdowns, and senior graduate transfer WR Siaosi Mariner has a team-best 22 receptions for 305 yards (13.9 ypr/76.2 ypg) and two touchdowns. Defensively, junior LB David Woodward leads the team with 55 tackles, which includes 3.5 tackles for loss, while junior S Troy Lefeged Jr. has 27 tackles, which includes 3.0 tackles for loss. As a team, USU is averaging 38.5 points and 533.0 yards of total offense (326.2 passing, 206.8 rushing), and allowing 21.5 points and 377.5 yards (263.5 passing, 114.0 rushing).
 
Utah State has scored 20-or-more points in 21 straight games, which is a school record, and the third-longest active streak in the nation behind Oklahoma (45) and Ohio State (32).
 
Overall, Utah State is among the top-40 teams in the nation in 20 statistical categories, including leading the nation in kickoff returns (34.6 yards per return), ranking ninth in total offense (533.0 yards per game) and 19th in scoring (38.5 points per game). USU also ranks sixth in the nation in sacks allowed (0.75 per game), 12th in passing offense (326.3 yards per game), 15th in punt returns (17.5 yards per return), 15th in rushing yards allowed per carry (2.7), 17th in third down conversions (50.0 percent) and 23rd nationally with its four fumble recoveries.
