Utah State Football Announces Three-Game Series With Utah

LOGAN, Utah — Utah State Vice President and Director of Athletics Diana Sabau announced Thursday that the Aggie football team will play a three-game series with the University of Utah in 2024, 2026 and 2031.

Utah State will host the Utes at Maverik Stadium on Sept. 14, 2024, and play in Salt Lake City at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Sept. 19, 2026, and on Aug. 30, 2031.

“It is tremendous for our football program to host the University of Utah this fall,” Sabau said. “Aggie Nation has certainly stressed the importance of in-state matchups in my short time at USU. Thank you to Utah Athletics Director Mark Harlan and his staff for making football in the state of Utah important for our fans.”

Utah State and Utah have faced one another 112 previous times, which is the most played series in school history for both programs. It is also the eighth-most played series in the western United States.

This will be the first meeting between the two programs since 2015. The teams have played one another 75 previous times in Salt Lake City and 37 times in Logan.

The last time the two teams met in Logan was during the 2012 campaign with Utah State posting a 27-20 overtime win. In fact, Utah is the last Pac-12 opponent to play inside Maverik Stadium.

Known as the Battle of the Brothers, the Utah State and Utah series began in Logan on Nov. 25, 1892, which was also the first-ever game for both programs. USU won that contest 12-0.
