Update from the co-organizers: Out of respect for the health and safety of all community members and out of an abundance of caution for those who might have attended this event indoors, this event has been postponed. Please look for more information in the coming weeks when we can gather to celebrate the life, teachings, and legacy of one of the world’s great leaders, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Coinciding with the first week of a new semester, Utah State University students and other community members will meet to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. while looking to the future.

The 11th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration will begin 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at the Historic 4th Ward Meetinghouse, 294 N. 100 East, Logan.

The event is co-hosted by the Black Student Union at Utah State University and Cache Community Connections.

Speakers and musical performances will reflect on Dr. King's work and legacy with a special emphasis on the work still needed to realize the dream of a more just, equitable and peaceful world. Following the program will be a candlelight vigil.

Jennifer Varela, multicultural program coordinator at the USU Inclusion Center, said she values "seeing community members and students alike come together to a common cause and call to action" at events like Friday's celebration.
