USU Welcomes Jona Odulio as AAPI Student Support Program Coordinator

LOGAN, Utah — Utah State University is pleased to announce the addition of Jona Odulio as the Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) student support program coordinator. Odulio will work out of the USU Inclusion Center and began on July 1.

“We are really excited that Jona has joined our team,” said Michelle Bogdan-Holt, director of the USU Inclusion Center. “The Inclusion Center’s mission has consistently supported the academic success, development, and sense of belonging for our students. Though each are of equal importance, the needs and goals of our specific students may vary. In this spirit, we have been moving in the direction of tailoring our support and services according to each student’s unique and individual lived experience. Jona’s experience both personal and professional made them the ideal candidate to work with Asian American and Pacific Islander students.”

In addition to working with the AAPI communities at USU, Odulio will also work as the adviser for the Asian Student Association and the Pasifika Student Union. The AAPI communities were previously served by the Multicultural and Indigenous Program Coordinators in the Inclusion Center. Now, they will have a program dedicated to AAPI endeavors, with an elevated level of cultural competency and knowledge. This position will help build resources and provide support for AAPI students to develop as leaders, persist in their academic endeavors, and have more positive social experiences in their time at USU.

Odulio joins the Inclusion Center staff after serving most recently in the USU Office of Equity as the sexual misconduct and discrimination case coordinator. Prior to this, Odulio worked with facilitator and broadcast support under Academic and Instructional Services from 2017-2022. They have spent the summer preparing for the upcoming school year and meeting with club officers from the Asian Student Association and the Pasifika Student Union.

Odulio’s office will be on the third floor of the Taggart Student Center. Students will have an opportunity to meet with Odulio on Sept. 29 at the Asian Student Association’s Mid-Autumn Festival.

“I love cats, snacks, knitting, and cultivating spaces for people to be their true selves without fear,” Odulio said.
