Utah State University-Uintah Basin (USU) held its second annual Perfect Swing for Scholarships Golf Tournament on Wednesday, August 29, 2018. The event was held at Dinaland Golf Course in Vernal, Utah. The event’s goal was to raise money for scholarships to help the region’s workforce and leaders earn college degrees.

This year’s event raised over $13,500 dollars for the USU Advisory Board Community Scholarship. USU partnered with the Uintah County Economic Development Office and the Uintah County Commission to hold the tournament as part of the annual Uintah Basin Energy Summit. There were 18 teams in the 18-hole scramble, enjoying the sunny weather and USU’s Famous Aggie Ice Cream.

“We are excited about the growth this year and appreciate the support for our students by our local community and industries,” said Cameron Cuch, USU-Uintah Basin’s associate director and director of students. “These organizations are making an investment in the Uintah Basin’s future leaders and workforce.”

Strata Networks were the reigning champions, and Uintah Basin Medical Center placed second only one stroke behind. USU appreciates all participants and donors, including Uintah Impact Mitigation Special Service District, Crescent Point Energy, Strata Network, Moon Lake Electric, and Uintah Basin Healthcare. The event would not be possible without support from local governments including Uintah County, Duchesne County, the Ute Indian Tribe and many local businesses, community members and energy companies.

USU-Uintah Basin has close to a million dollars available annually to support students through scholarships. These scholarships are critical to providing local graduates the support to finish their degree on time, with the least amount of debt as possible. Proceeds from the event will go to support students. Donations can be made at any time by visiting uintahbasin.usu.edu/perfectswing
