USU To Get Physical

The Wellness Program at Utah State University sponsors several classes and new, longer workout hours this summer. Members of the community at large can participate in the programs for a monthly fee.

The Wellness Center, located in the Health, Physical Education and Recreation building, Room 109, is open Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. until 7 p.m. Treadmills, gliders and other cardio equipment, in addition to free and cable weights and a large stretching matt, are available in the Wellness Center. Free blood pressure and percent body fat checks are also available.

USU employees, employee spouses with a USU ID along with accompanying children over the age of 16 are welcome to use the USU exercise facilities free of charge. Students with a valid USU ID are also free. Recreation Passes are available to the community at $30 per month and include the HPER pool, Wellness Center and Fieldhouse.

Due to popular demand, the Fieldhouse is now open this summer noon-5 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Fieldhouse visitors can use the indoor track, the new Icon spinning room, squash courts and the upstairs fitness center, including cardio and weight lifting equipment.

The Wellness Program offers a summer water aerobics session at the HPER pool. The 12-week class meets during the noon hour Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, beginning May 18. The cost is $35 with USU ID and $45 without. The popular “Yoga with Dennise” class is also available this summer. The five-week class meets noon-1 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday, starting June 23. Cost is $45 with USU ID and $60 without.

To register for classes, or to purchase a Recreation Pass, visit the Campus Recreation/HPER Pool Service Desk.

Additionally, Aggie Blue Bikes offers a free, “Easy Bicycle Maintenance” class Thursday, May 21. The hour-long class is offered at noon and again at 5 p.m.
