USU to Celebrate 100 Years of Aggie Ice Cream on June 21 With Events, Promotions

In February, Gov. Spencer Cox signed an official declaration designating June 21, 2022, as Aggie Ice Cream Day in recognition of the celebration of its centennial. The Aggie Creamery invites everyone to join in the celebration that day at the Aggie Creamery, 750 N. 1200 East, Logan.

June 21 is the first day of summer and a great day to celebrate with award-winning Aggie Ice Cream. Throughout 2022, Aggie Ice Cream has celebrated its centennial with monthly prize giveaways and limited-edition flavors. This event will feature June’s flavor of the month, Aggie Chocolate Cherry. This new tart and sweet flavor combines rich vanilla ice cream with chocolate made at the Aggie Chocolate Factory and Utah-grown tart cherries from Payson Fruit Growers.

A brief ceremony at noon will include special guests Cache County Executive David Zook, Big Blue, and USU College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences Dean Ken White. Festivities will include the reveal of a new addition to the Creamery and special recognition from Cache County. Patrons can take advantage of an all-day discount of 100 cents off each single-scoop cone in celebration of 100 years of Aggie Ice Cream.

From noon to 2 p.m., customers can meet baby animals, learn about Aggie Ice Cream’s history, and participate in prize giveaways — including two grand prizes: a year’s supply of Aggie Ice Cream and a weekend stay at Conestoga Ranch, a “glamping” resort near Bear Lake. Patrons can enter the giveaway by scanning a QR code at the Creamery and following @aggieicecream on Instagram and Facebook.

“Aggie Ice Cream Day is bigger and better than any month of our celebration yet,” said Bridgett Liberty, Aggie Ice Cream sales manager. “We are excited to celebrate Aggie Ice Cream and the professors, employees and students who help make it from cow to cone.”

The Aggie Creamery has been teaching students about making quality dairy products on the campus of Utah State University since 1888. Many of those alumni have gone on to create their own ice cream brands. For locals, students and people visiting Cache Valley, a trip to Logan is not complete without a scoop of Famous Aggie Ice Cream. The premium ice cream is created from cow to cone beginning with milk and cream produced at USU’s Caine Dairy and blended to perfection at the dairy products lab on the Utah State campus.
