USU Tests Alert System, Procedures on Logan Campus

Utah State University’s Department of Public Safety will conduct an exercise on Wednesday, Jan. 4, to test the university’s alert system and access-controlled locks (accessible with key cards) on the Logan campus.

At 10 a.m., Public Safety will send an Aggie Safe Alert and lock all exterior doors on campus. For 10 minutes, exercise teams will check doors on preselected buildings, and all exterior doors with access control should be locked and only accessible by Public Safety. At 10:10 a.m., doors will be unlocked, and Public Safety will send another Aggie Safe alert noting the conclusion of the exercise. All systems will return to normal operations at that time.

Both Aggie Alert messages will be sent through text, email and push notification in the Aggie Safe app. To receive push notifications, the app must be downloaded and current on updates. Anyone with feedback or questions after the exercise is encouraged to email emergencymanagement@usu.edu.

This exercise is part of USU’s ongoing emergency preparedness planning. To learn more, visit usu.edu/dps/emergency.
