USU Soccer Continues to Rise in the Latest Pacific Coaches Poll

Utah State soccer moved to No. 7 in the latest Pacific Region United Soccer Coaches poll released on Tuesday. USU is the only team in the Mountain West, and one of only two outside the Pac-12, ranked among the Pacific Region, made up of teams from the MW, WAC and Pac-12.

The Aggies wrapped up their non-conference schedule with a 2-1 overtime victory at No. 18 BYU last Saturday, entering conference play with a 7-1-1 mark, the best start in school history.

Individually, senior midfielder Ashley Cardozo leads the MW in total points, tallying 14 behind four goals and a league-best six assists. Fellow seniors Imelda Williams and Sammie Murdock are tied for first in the conference with two game-winning goals, apiece while the Aggies' seven victories on the year are tied for the most in the MW. Junior keeper Diera Walton leads the MW with three shutouts this season, second in goals-against-average (0.72) and third in save percentage (.857).

Utah State opens conference play this week, hosting Nevada at Chuck and Gloria Bell Field on Friday, Sept. 24, at 4 p.m. The Aggies will then take their first conference road trip, facing UNLV in Las Vegas on Sunday, Sept. 26, at 2 p.m. (MT).
