USU Police Seek Public's Help in Lewdness Case

July 3, 2022 update: A suspect has been located and booked on suspicion of lewdness and distribution of pornographic material.

Utah State University Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who is wanted for questioning related to lewdness and distribution of pornographic material.

On June 17, 2022, the man left a note taped to a woman’s vehicle in the area of Old Main. The note included a pornographic image. The man was also observed on campus between 10 a.m. and 1:43 p.m.

On June 25, 2022, an individual driving on U.S. Highway 89 at the intersection of Champ Drive near the Family Life building observed the same individual standing. The man was reported to have his shorts down and his penis exposed to traffic. The driver later mentioned it to coworkers but did not report it to law enforcement at that time. The individual was observed on campus that day between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

On June 26, 2022, the driver from the day prior pulled into campus off U.S. Highway 89 onto Champ Drive and parked in front of the Agricultural Science building’s west side. Upon returning to their vehicle after exiting the building, they observed the same male individual from the day prior. They went into the Agricultural Sciences building and upon exiting found a note taped to their vehicle with a pornographic image, the same as in the picture reported on June 17, as well as similar verbiage used in the prior letter. The male individual was observed on campus that day between 3:45 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Each time the individual arrived on campus, he changed his clothes into shorts. He carried a black backpack with white writing on the front, and it appeared to have something white on the left strap by the adjuster.

Community members with any information in regard to these incidents or the individual should contact Detective Nick Bowman in USU Police at (435)797-1939.
