USU-Online #12 in U.S. News & World Report's Best Online Programs for Vets
Ranked No. 12 nationally, Utah State University-Online made its first-ever appearance in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Online Bachelor’s Degrees for Veterans. U.S. News & World Report’s is widely regarded as one of the preeminent college rankings reports.
“We’ve gone to great lengths to make USU a veteran-friendly university,” said Tony Flores, USU’s Veteran’s Resource Office program coordinator. “We have developed extensive resources and financial support for military and former military service members as they make the transition back to civilian life. Those services combined, with USU-Online’s expertise have created a powerful resource that helps veterans get their college degrees.”
Flores noted that USU has also previously been recognized as a Top Military-Friendly University by GI Jobs and a Military Friendly School by KMI Media.
According U.S. News & World Report, to qualify for the Best Online Programs for Veterans rankings, schools first had to be among the top 75 percent of schools ranked in the 2015 Best Online Program rankings. (USU-Online is ranked No. 13 in the nation in the most recent rankings.) Second, the programs had to belong to institutions that are certified for the GI Bill and that participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program, two federal initiatives that help veterans reduce the cost of school.
Utah State University-Online offers eight online bachelor’s degrees such as communicative disorders and deaf education, economics and psychology. It also offers six online master’s degrees, such as Instructional Technology & Learning Sciences. In addition to complete degree programs, Utah State University–Online delivers over 350 online courses every semester to nearly 5,000 students in Utah and throughout the United States.
“The university views online course and degree delivery as an integral part of higher education’s future, and we’ve made great strides to become Utah’s premier online university,” said Robert Wagner, USU’s executive vice provost and Dean for Academic and Instructional Services. “Using USU-Online’s technology is a great way to better serve our veterans.”
