USU Music Therapy Presents MUSES: Serenade For The Senses, a Music Therapy Showcase

By Kate Stewart |

LOGAN — The Utah State University Music Therapy Department is hosting a music therapy showcase, “MUSES: Serenade for the Senses,” with support from the USU Music Therapy Student Association.

This showcase will take place at the Russell/Wanlass Performance Hall on Saturday, Nov. 4.

There will be an interactive lobby experience from 7-7:30 p.m., a concert from 7:30-8:30 p.m., and a reception from 8:30-9 p.m.

Current USU music therapy students, USU music therapy program alumni, and USU music therapy program clinical supervisors will be performing at the concert.

"MUSES provides a unique opportunity for attendees to learn about clinical applications of music while celebrating the vast and varied musical skills and talents of USU music therapy students, supervisors and alumni,” said Allison Fox, USU clinical assistant professor of music therapy.

Concertgoers will enjoy original compositions and adaptations of contemporary pieces that have been intentionally chosen to represent the experiences of our students while highlighting potential clinical applications of these works in music therapy practice, according to Fox.

An interactive lobby experience will be available to attendees prior to the performance. Following the performance, she hopes attendees may feel inspired and better informed about the field of music therapy and the healing potential of music.
