USU's Jazz Night at the Sky Club

Enjoy evenings of dining, dancing and relaxation Feb. 17 and 18 at Utah State University, while raising funds for the Larry Smith Jazz Scholarship fund. A student “Dance Only” night is Feb. 16. This is the second annual Jazz Night at the Sky Club.

Each night opens with a specially prepared dinner, accompanied by the sultry sounds of the Becky Lafferty/Charlie Malolo Duo. This Utah State student combo combines vocals and nylon string guitar.

According to event coordinator Ann Marie Wallace, an array of gourmet cuisine will be served, including appetizers and entrees such as flank steak rolaude, filled and rolled with Prosciutto ham, parmesan cheese, fresh spinach and roasted garlic and mushroom demiglaze. A choice of three other entrees, including a vegetarian offering, is provided. Guests can enjoy a choice of specialty drinks, including Aggie Sparkle, Peaches and Cream, Shirley Temple, Roy Rogers and Lime Rickey.

After dinner, guests can dance the night away as Utah State University’s Jazz Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble, accompanied by their featured vocalists, recreate the era of big bands and swing music. Larry Smith, guest of honor and former jazz educator and noted saxophonist, will also appear.

Tickets are $29 per person and are available at the USU Ticket Office in the Smith Spectrum until Feb. 13.

The University Inn offers an overnight package that includes tickets to the show, a comfortable night stay in a newly renovated two-queen room and a hot catered breakfast the next morning. The package price for two is $132.95 (before tax) and can be reserved at the University Inn toll free at 800-231-5634 or online.
