USU Helps Host Unique and Indigenous Student Specific Natural Resource Leadership Program

The NATURE Program – Native American Tribes Upholding Restoration and Education – aims to support the next generation of Indigenous leaders by building their skills in the fields of environmental conservation and natural resource management. The leadership program is co-led by Utah State University and The Nature Conservancy, and has just completed its third year of instruction. Students who participate in the 7-week course meet and work with scholars, experts, and practitioners who focus on issues presented by climate change, as well as in conservation, restoration, and/or resource management. USU’s involvement in supporting the program comes through helping to shape its curriculum, offering up lodging and classrooms at Statewide Campus locations, as well as in having faculty work with the students as a part of the program.
