USU Expert Cited in 'Best Career Cities' Post

Utah State University’s Donna Crow was recently cited as an expert in a web posting by WalletHub. The piece, “2016’s Best & Worst Cities to Start a Career” by John S. Klernan, offered rankings for the top 150 cities to start a career. Crow is executive director of USU’s Career Services office.

Salt Lake City, Utah, topped the rankings with a total score of 69.56, a “Professional Opportunities” rank of number 1 and a “Quality of Life” rank of number 10. Salt Lake City also tied for a number 1 ranking for most entry-level jobs.

Crow was one of seven university experts from around the country asked to offer advice about starting off in a career. She said that for a number of students the city in which they begin their careers can become the city they stay in to grow their careers and contribute to those communities.

“It helps to head to a city that is doing well with growth in a range of industries to allow for changing and shifting trends in your field,” she said.

WalletHub notes that finding a place to settle down can be just as challenging as choosing a career path. To help guide job seekers with the question, WalletHub asked a number of experts, including Crow, to offer some advice.
