PRICE, Utah — Utah State University Eastern’s Gallery East will host an exhibition of photographs by Dave Hanson, a local businessman and award-winning artist, during the month of February. The exhibit, titled “Road Trip” will be on view from Feb. 2 to March 1 in the Central Instruction Building.

The exhibit is an accumulation of captured moments from the artist’s travels throughout the western United States. The series of more than 30 photographs represents Hanson’s unique vision of the West, featuring travel spots, weathered structures and roadside views of the American landscape.

“The resulting images are a celebration of my search to discover and capture — with fresh eyes and a unique vision — what I have found beautiful, interesting and unexpected,” Hanson said. “My photographs are mementos of passion from my ongoing visual autobiographical journey. They are the outcomes of the variations of my thoughts and the evidence and artifacts of my presence in the places that I have been, the things I have seen and of the people that I have experienced. They tell of the brief moments in my life that have paused me in my steps and have roused me from life’s visual slumber.”

Hanson has had a lifelong passion for the medium of photography. Born in Price, Hanson has spent the better part of three decades using his photography to encapsulate an eclectic range of subject matter. He has a vast range of inspiration in his work, from everything to the uniqueness of the human face and body, the historic remnants left by man on the land, and the beauty of the landscape itself throughout the world.

Hanson has had more than 215 shows in galleries throughout the U.S., Greece, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Canada, England, South Korea and France. He incorporates digital, film and several historic alternative photographic processes to capture and create his art.

The campus will host an artist’s reception and talk on from 6-8 p.m. Feb. 9. Students, faculty and members of the community are welcome to attend.

Gallery East is free and open to the public during the academic year from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed weekends and holidays.
