By Marcus Jensen |

LOGAN, Utah — Looking for a way to stay active and help reduce the stress before Finals Week? Utah State University Campus Recreation will host the third annual Aggie Recreation Triathlon on April 22, 2023. The event is open to all USU students, faculty and staff, as well as all members of the community. The event is great for people of all fitness levels.

The speed triathlon will include a 550-yard free swim in the HPER pools, a 12-mile stationary bike ride outside the Aggie Recreation Center and will conclude with a 5K run through USU’s campus. Registration for the event is $5 for USU students and $15 for USU faculty and staff as well as community members.

The event will be split into four different heats, to allow for more participants. The heats will start at 8:15 a.m., 9 a.m., 9:45 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Each racer will receive a race bib, T-shirt, and medal when they participate in this event. There will be awards for top finishers, an Aggie Spirit Award, and raffled items at the end of the race for all those that attend.

Participants from last year’s race lauded the experience. “The energy was great and made it super fun!” one participant said. “I love the camaraderie — it’s a fun environment,” another said. “The volunteers were great and really hyped up the athletes,” said another.

People who would like to volunteer or who need service hours are also welcome at the event. Campus Rec is looking for volunteers to help in various roles. Volunteers will be fed breakfast and lunch. To sign up to volunteer, contact Amanda Bray (amanda.bray@usu.edu).

The event is sponsored by numerous campus partners, including USU Dining Services, Aggie Print, BSN Sports, Freemotion, The Spirit Goat, Morty’s Café, PLAE, and more.

Registration for the event is now open. To ensure availability of shirt size, participants are encouraged to register by March 24. For more information and to register to participate, visit www.usu.edu/campusrec/special-events/run-walk-events.
