LOGAN, Utah — Looking for an activity that will keep you active and help reduce stress right before Finals Week? Utah State University Campus Recreation will host the second annual Aggie Recreation Triathlon on April 23, 2022. The event will put participants through several athletic feats, with bike riding, swimming and running legs of the race. Registration is now open and will close April 2, 2022.

The event is open to all USU students, faculty and staff, as well as community members. Current USU students can register for the race for free while all other participants can register for $35. The triathlon will consist of a 500-yard free swim in the HPER pools, followed by a 10-mile ride on a stationary bike set up on the Aggie Legacy Fields. The race will conclude with a 5-kilometer run around USU’s campus.

The event will be split into four different waves to allow for more participants. The waves will start at 8:15 a.m., 9 a.m., 9:45 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Each racer will receive a race bib, T-shirt and medal.

Participants from last year’s inaugural race raved about the experience.

“It was sheer enjoyment of moving my body in a fun, energetic environment,” one participant said.

Another said, “It was super nonjudgmental, which I really appreciated.”

“The entire thing was so much fun,” said another.

People who would like to volunteer or who need service hours are also welcome at the event. Campus Rec is looking for volunteers to help in various roles, including lap swim counting, race directing, water/food stations and finish line. Volunteers will be fed breakfast and lunch. To sign up to volunteer, contact Amanda Bray (amanda.bray@usu.edu).

The event is sponsored by numerous campus partners, including USU Dining Services, USUSA, Aggie Ice Cream, and Aggie Print, as well as multiple community companies including Lazyone, Johnny O’s Spudnuts, Malouf, G2G, BSN Sports, Natural Grocers, The Spirit Goat, The Westside Coffee Company, Old Chicago and Freemotion. Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers, including pillows from Malouf, pajamas from Lazyone, gift cards from Johnny O’s as well as Aggie Ice Cream and more. Campus Rec will also award the Aggie Spirit Award for the participant that shows the most USU pride with their attire during the race. This winner will get a basket from The Spirit Goat, Lazyone PJs, and an Aggie Ice Cream gift card.

Registration for the event is now open and will close on April 2. For more information and to register to participate, visit www.usu.edu/campusrec/special-events/run-walk-events.
