Update on USU Athletics Director Search
By Marcus Jensen |
LOGAN, Utah — Utah State University has retained a search firm and initiated a national search for its new Vice President and Director of Athletics. The position is open for applications, and USU invites candidates to apply.
The search firm, Collegiate Sports Associates Executive Search & Consulting, will collect applications and nominations. A search committee at USU will begin reviewing applications in July. The position is open until filled, but for best consideration, applicants should submit an application package by July 12, 2023.
It is anticipated that the search committee will present a short list of finalists to the university in August. Elizabeth R. Cantwell, who begins her service at USU as president on Aug. 1, will make the final hiring decision, and she is already engaged in the process.
“I recognize the pivotal role the USU Athletics Director plays in shaping the future of our athletic programs, nurturing a culture of excellence and fostering the well-being of our student-athletes,” Cantwell said. “I take seriously our responsibility to find an individual who possesses exceptional qualifications and shares our core values as a community, and I thank our fans for their unwavering commitment to our athletics community, our student-athletes and our Aggie pride.”
USU’s Vice President for Athletics/Athletic Director oversees all aspects of USU’s athletic department. They will lead and make decisions regarding personnel, academic and athletic success, budgets, facilities, operations, fundraising, compliance, and student-athlete welfare. They ensure compliance to all regulations governing USU and its employees, as well as those of the NCAA and Mountain West Conference. USU competes in 16 Division I sports programs.
