Utah State Beats Host In Hilo Shootout



Spencer Nelson scored 17 points and had seven rebounds as Utah State defeated Hawaii-Hilo 71-60 Sunday in the final game of the round-robin Hilo Shootout.
 
Utah State (5-0) led by eight, 38-30, at halftime, before the Vulcans (2-1) opened the second half with five unanswered points.
 
The Aggies later went on a 7-0 run followed by a 7-2 run to expand their lead to 15 points.
Mark Brown had 11 points and Mike Puzey added 10 for Utah State.
 
Kyle Bartholomew led Hawaii-Hilo with 14 points. Derek Mgbeke had 13 points and Ryan Abrahams added 10.
 
Brown was named the tournament MVP. He was jointed all-tournament team by teammate Desmond Penigar, Abrahams, Drake's J.J. Sola and Greg Danielson, and Taylor Coppenrath of Vermont.
