Track Heads To Air Force Invitational This Weekend


Utah State will compete against 14 other schools during two day meet

Fourteen teams, along with the Utah State University Aggies will converge on Colorado Springs, Colo., Friday and Saturday (Jan. 23 and 24), to compete in the men's and women's indoor track Air Force Invitational.


The teams include BYU, Colorado, Colorado State, New Mexico, Wichita State, Wyoming, Adams State, CU-Colorado Springs, Colorado School of Mines, Northern Colorado and Western State.


With five first-place finishes at the Snake River Open last Saturday (Jan. 17), coach Greg Gensel and the team are expecting more success this Friday and Saturday.


The women pole vaulters had a strong showing at the Open with Alana Geisler,Kaylene Gastaldi and Jennifer Brown all clearing 11-0.


Kelli Burton
 showed she will be a strength on the women's team this year, winning the shot put with a distance of 49-01.00.


Justin Wickard
 won the 55-meter hurdles for the second straight year in Pocatello and Josh Sides dominated the shot put with a throw of 56-08.50.


Utah State returns to Logan next week to host the Wilson Motor Invitational Sat., Jan. 31. The Invitational is held in the Nelson Fieldhouse and is an all day event.
