Students, Professionals to Perform Original Pieces at World Music Therapy Day Performance

By Samantha Isaacson |

LOGAN, Utah — The Utah State University Music Therapy program will celebrate World Music Therapy Day with a special performance at 7:30 p.m. March 1 in the Russell/Wanlass Performance Hall.

“The Soundtrack of the Originals” will highlight music therapy and its impact on people around the world. The concert will showcase original compositions of music therapy students at USU and honor the work of music therapists both locally and globally.

“Mixed in with the music, we're going to have some spotlights of music therapists who are here in Cache Valley,” said Music Therapy Instructor Corinne Pickett. “This will help highlight the work they’re doing and advocate for the music therapy field.”

The concert will explore what makes these great music therapists original, with each spotlight and composition reflecting the impact of connection and the power of the human beings behind the music.

“Every music therapist brings their own unique approach to their work,” Pickett said. “While we rely on established techniques and protocols, each therapist’s interaction with and application of music to their clients is distinct and original.”

Admission is free and open to the public. For more information, visit the online calendar.
