Proposals for Technology Commercialization and Innovation Program Grants

The Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development is accepting Technology Commercialization and Innovation Program proposals for the current submission round.

All proposals must be pre-approved by Utah State University Intellectual Property Services as well as USU Sponsored Programs — or USURF Contracts and Grants, as appropriate. Following approval by IPSO and Sponsored Programs, applicants are responsible for submitting the grant directly to GOED via email. The deadline for submissions to GOED is Nov. 11; proposals submitted to IPSO at USU should be received no less than 72 business hours in advance of the submission deadline. Proposals may be submitted electronically to ipso@usu.edu.

The Technology Commercialization & Innovation Program is a state funded GRANT program developed by the Utah Legislature in 1986 to accelerate the commercialization of promising technologies that have strategic value for Utah. The end goal of the TCIP program is to help drive economic development and job creation.

“University research and industry partnerships lead to innovation and economic impact for the state and local economies,” said Robert T. Behunin, USU vice president for commercialization and regional development. “USU has a robust technology portfolio that continues to grow and we look forward to the opportunities that result from that growth.”

The Technology Commercialization & Innovation Program is currently piloting a faster model and solicits for grants three times per year. Companies affiliated with a Utah college or university may also apply for a TCIP grant.
