PBL Goes to Nationals

PBL student Kristen TaylorCache Valley Phi Beta Lambda members from Utah State University and Stevens-Henager College brought home eight top-ten trophies from Phi Beta Lambda's National Leadership Conference held in Dallas, Texas, June 30 through July 2.

The goal of Phi Beta Lambda is to assist students in becoming competent in their career fields, preparing them for the competitive edge found in the business world. The national competition tests students' skills.

 

PBL student Charity StoneThe 12 students went to Dallas to compete against approximately 1,700 PBL club members in areas that included business decision making, Web design and hospitality management. They also participated in workshops for the enhancement of business skills.

Kristen Taylor took first place in hospitality management, as did Charity Stone in marketing. Fifth place was awarded to Duke DiStefano in the area of future business teacher and sixth place to Julie Linton for human resource management. Nanette Sorenson earned eighth in word processing and ninth place in hospitality management went to Ginger Garrett. Christina Williams and Jesse Attwood both placed tenth in business decision making.

PBL student Duke DiStefanoJeana Allen, Tricia Jackson, Cindy Nelson, and Russell Stephenson also participated in the competition.

In addition to conference event participation, students were able to take in some sites in Dallas, including the Dallas Museum of Art and the NBA "Hoop It Up" women's final.
