Our Mule in the Media: A Gem of a Story Around the World

"Kick-Ass Clone" read the New York Post after the announcement of the world's first cloned mule. Utah State University's little mule made big news all last weekend.

Idaho Gem is the first member of the horse family to be cloned. The Utah State/University of Idaho team announced the scientific breakthrough at a press conference Thursday, May 29 in Moscow, Idaho.

News of the mule was reported from Sydney to London with headlines reading, "Miracle Mule" and "Cloned Mule Makes History." More media attention is expected when Dr. Ken White, Utah State scientist, appears on NBC's Today show Monday, June 9., While his appearance on Todaywas originally scheduled for June 2, the interview with White was postponed as another mule was scheduled to be born this week.
