New College Supplies Grants Available for Incoming Students

Utah State University will offer $200 for college supplies to new first-time domestic undergraduate students for the fall 2023 semester. These funds are available through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) to offset lingering financial hardships related to COVID-19.

“There are still lasting effects of the pandemic that impact our students and families, from higher cost of living to groceries, to even employment issues,” said Katie Jo North, Executive Director of New Student Enrollment at USU. “These HEERF funds are to help offset the costs of books, supplies, and other materials for incoming students.”

These grants are available at each of USU’s 30 campuses and centers in Utah and will automatically be offered on a rolling basis to new students who have registered for classes. These grants must be accepted and paid out by May 3, 2023, to align with HEERF.

North encourages students to take the following steps:

  1. Pay the enrollment deposit.
  2. Complete online orientation modules.
  3. Be registered for at least one USU course by Wednesday, April 26.
  4. Set up direct deposit.
  5. Accept the College Supplies Grant by Wednesday, May 3.
