New Associate Vice President for Advancement Named at Utah State University

Utah State University announced David W. Driggs as the new associate vice president for University Advancement.
 
“The position will play a key role in overseeing the professional fund raising staff and be responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive major gifts and prospect management system as Utah State prepares for the upcoming campaign,” said M. Scott Mietchen, vice president for University Advancement.
 
In managing day-to-day development operations, Driggs will work closely with associate vice president Joyce Albrecht. He will also manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, support senior administrators and travel extensively.
 
Driggs has 18 years of professional experience in nonprofit fund raising. He is currently serving as director of major gifts for the University of Utah, a position he has held for two years. In this position he oversees the university’s major gift and regional program, as well the university’s development research operation. He also plays a key role in managing the development activities of senior administrators and deans. 
 
From 1998 to 2002, Driggs served as a major gifts officer for the U of U, where he played a key role in the planning and implementation of the university’s successful Sesquicentennial Campaign, which raised $769 million.  
 
From 1993 to 1998 he served as director of development for Pioneer Theatre Company at the University of Utah and prior to that as senior development officer for the Boy Scouts of America, Greater New York Councils.
 
Driggs holds a bachelor’s degree in musical theatre performance from the University of Utah. He and his wife Mary, a BYU musical theatre alumna, have six children and live in Salt Lake City. He will be housed primarily in Utah State’s new Salt Lake office, but will frequently be in Logan.
