NEHMA Celebrates Global Day of Unplugging

Looking for ways to reduce screen time, unplug, and gain quality time with family and friends? Join people from all across the world in “Global Day of Unplugging” from March 1-2 from sundown to sundown.

Visit the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art in Logan on March 2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to participate in various free, family-centered activities, including a scavenger hunt, prizes and refreshments.

“Ever since the pandemic in 2020, the comfort for most of us has been to spend time on our phones, TVs, and computers because we had them,” said Art Education Intern Elizabeth Masten, organizer for this event. “But the pandemic is over and more studies are showing excessive screen time is harmful to our mental and physical health. This movement is a collective of people reminding others that there is so much to learn and observe outside of the screen on our phones.”

The Global Day of Unplugging team fights against the statistics that “For ages 15-24, time spent in-person with friends has reduced by 70% over almost two decades.” This organization advocates for local communities to elevate human connection over digital engagement.
