Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Honors 16 Aggies for Academic Success

The Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference has announced its academic all-conference honorees and 16 Utah State student-athletes were named to the list.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must have a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average for the 2020-21 school year and have appeared on the squad list during the 2021 campaign.

The 16 Utah State gymnasts to receive MRGC accolades included seniors Autumn DeHarde, Taylor Dittmar, Mikaela Meyer, Leighton Varnadore and Logan Varnadore, juniors Carley Bayles and Anique Grenier, sophomores Lexi Aragon, Maia Fishwick, Jessica Gutierrez, Hadley Hamar and Ariel Toomey, and freshmen Olivia Blakely, Brianna Brooks, Lara Burhans and Eve Jackson.

The MRGC recognized 67 student-athletes from its four member institutions in Boise State, BYU, Southern Utah and USU. The Thunderbirds led the way with 22 honorees, followed by the Aggies and Broncos with 16 apiece, and the Cougars with 14.

Despite battling through a year of uncertainty with the COVID-19 pandemic, Utah State team still enjoyed one of its finest seasons in program history as the Aggies competed in their 26th NCAA Regional Championship, including their first since 2017.

When the dust finally settled, Utah State ended the 2021 campaign ranked No. 25 in the nation, their best finish since finishing 15th in 1999. The Aggies also tied for 25th in 1998.
