LOGAN, Utah — Fiestas Americas, an annual celebration hosted by the Utah State University Latinx Student Union, will return this April. The event will be from 5-11 p.m. April 1 in the International Lounge and Ballroom inside the Taggart Student Center.

“Fiestas Americas is an excellent way to experience Latin America’s rich and diverse culinary traditions while enjoying a cultural and social experience that can help you learn and connect more with others in our university and community,” said Yenny López, program coordinator for USU’s Latinx Cultural Center.

All members of the community are invited to attend, and the event is suitable for people of all ages. The event will include dinner and live music from 5-7 p.m. followed by cultural events and performances from 7-11 p.m. There will also be a Latinx art exhibit featuring artwork made by USU students.

Tickets to the event cost $15 for both the dinner and performances. Those wishing to attend the cultural performances without dinner can purchase a ticket for $8. Student tickets are $5 with a valid ID.

“This cultural event has expanded throughout the years,” said Fatima Delgadillo, president of the LXU student club. “It celebrates the diversity and culture of the Latinx community here at USU. We will have a variety of dances and art made by or inspired by Latinx people. We will be hosting an art exhibition during the dinner portion as well.”

Fiestas Americas is the Latinx Student Union’s largest event of the year and seeks to showcase the vibrancy and diversity of Latinx cultures. The event is a collaboration with USU’s Inclusion Center and the Latinx Cultural Center. The goal of the event is to provide a space for students to honor and commemorate their heritage and to educate the public on the diversity of USU’s student body. Proceeds from the event will help fund Latinx Student Union events throughout the year.

“The Fiestas Americas event is a fun way to celebrate the Latinx culture at USU,” López said. “It is a great opportunity to share a little about our heritage. It is an honor to be part of this event.”
