Kilpatrick Named WGC Co-Gymnast of the Week

Utah State senior gymnast Nicole Kilpatrick was named the Western Gymnastics Conference's co-Gymnast of the Week Tuesday. It's the second time this season she earned the honor. Cal State Fullerton's LaToya Milburn and Kelly Mathiasen were the league's other honorees, as each scored 10.0 on floor against Rhode Island on March 14.

Kilpatrick scored 39.525 in the all-around March 14 against NC State. She started the night with a school-record 9.95 on vault, and scored 9.925 on floor, 9.85 on bars and 9.80 on beam. Her 39.525 was just .025 shy of the school record. She won the all-around, vault and floor titles in the meet.

This year, Kilpatrick leads the Aggies on beam and vault with averages of 9.834 and 9.884, respectively. She is second on bars with an average of 9.786 and beam at 9.668. Nelson also stacks up well against other gymnasts in the nation. She is currently ranked 36th in the country with an all-around average of 39.173 and an RQS (regional qualifying score) of 39.250. Regionally, she is second in the vault, eighth on floor and among all-arounders, and 17th on bars.

This is the fifth time this season an Aggie gymnast was named WGC Gymnast of the Week, as freshman Meagan Nelson has been honored three times since Jan. 14. The Western Gymnastics Conference consists of Boise State, Cal State Fullerton, Southern Utah and Utah State and was formed in 2002.
