Jaycee Carroll Named to United States Basketball Writer's All-District Team

Utah State University’s Jaycee Carroll was named an All-District VIII selection by the United States Basketball Writer's Association (USBWA) it was announced on Tuesday [March 6]. District VIII includes schools from the states of Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.
 
In all, 10 players were named to the team, including Nick Fazekas (Nevada), who was named the Player of the Year in the district for the second straight season. Other players honored include Jacob Burtschi (Air Force), Brandon Ewing (Wyoming), Justin Hawkins (New Mexico State), Luke Nevill (Utah), David Patten (Weber State), Jason Smith (Colorado State), Wendell White (UNLV) and Kenna Young (BYU).
 
The Coach of the Year in District VIII is former Utah State assistant and current Weber State head coach Randy Rahe.
 
Carroll's other honors so far this year include being named to the Western Athletic Conference's first-team and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division I All-District 14 second-team.
 
Carroll, a 6-2, 175-pound junior guard from Evanston, Wyo., currently leads the Western Athletic Conference and is 11th in the nation in scoring at 21.0 points per game. Carroll also leads the WAC in free throw shooting (.884), and three-point shooting (.432), is fourth in overall field goal shooting (.532) and ranks 11th in the league in rebounding (6.2).
 
On Utah State's career charts, Carroll is seventh in scoring (1,641), first in three-point field goal shooting (.453), second in three-point field goals made (245), fourth in three-point field goals attempted (541), fourth in double-figure scoring games (82), sixth in field goal attempts (1,148), seventh in games started (93), eighth in field goals made (581) and 12th in scoring average (17.3).
