Haven Vance Named Utah State Athlete of the Week

Vance hit two home runs against UC Riverside last weekend


Haven VanceUtah State softball player Haven Vance was named Utah State's Athlete of the Week, it was announced Monday. The honor is selected by a local media panel.

Vance, a junior from Spanish Fork, Utah, led the Aggies at the plate as they picked up a win against UC Riverside on Sunday. In the three game series, Vance hit two home runs and was 7-10 with four RBIs. Utah State won the last game of the series after dropping the first two.

This year, Vance owns a .357 batting average against Big West opponents. She also leads the Aggies in RBIs and triples with 15 and two, respectively.


Nominees from other sports...

Men's Track -- Joel Johnson... Johnson finished second in the long jump (22-04.25), third in the 110-meter hurdles (11.03) and third in the pole vault (16-10.75) at the BYU Invitational last weekend. His pole vault distance tied his personal best.

Women's Track -- Kelli Burton... Burton finished first in both the discus (162-01.50) and shot put (49-10.75) at the BYU Invitational last weekend. Her discus mark improved her regional qualifying score and was a personal best. Burton also placed fourth in the hammer throw at the invitational with a distance of 159-09.00.
