Gymnast Meagan Nelson Named Utah State Athlete of the Week

Utah State gymnast Meagan Nelson was named Utah State's Athlete of the Week for the second straight week, it was announced on Monday. The weekly honor is selected by a local media panel.

Nelson, a freshman from Las Vegas, Nev., scored 39.500 in the all-around in USU's 195.350-193.675 win against Boise State in Logan Friday. Her score was the third-best overall and the top all-around performance by a freshman in USU history.

Friday also marked the third meet in which Nelson has posted a 39.000-plus, as she scored a 9.950 on the floor, 9.900 on vault and 9.800 on bars.
