Grammy-Nominated Jazz Singer to Perform At USU

The Associated Students of Utah State University will host Grammy- nominated jazz singer and Sony recording artist Jane Monheit Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 7 p.m. in the Kent Concert Hall at Utah State University.

Monheit is the first performer on the spring leg of the 2006-2007 Arts & Lectures Series. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for USU students. For tickets, contact the USU ticket office at 435-797-0305.

“We’re really excited about the opportunity we have to include Jane Monheit in the 2006-2007 Arts and Lectures Series,” said ASUSU Arts & Lectures Director Kyle Milne. “It’s a rare opportunity for students to experience something this appealing as a part of their educational experience.”

Monheit began her vocal training at the age of 17 while attending the Manhattan School of Music. Since then she has released three records, two of which spent considerable time at the top of the Billboard Jazz chart. Her album “Never Never Land” was voted Best Debut Recording by the members of the Jazz Journalists Association and the track “Since You Asked” was nominated for a Grammy Award. Monheit’s latest album “Surrender” features songs from Henry Mancini, Johnny Mandel, Paul Francis Webster and Stevie Wonder.
