Erin Cartwright Named Co-Big West Conference Player Of The Week

Utah State volleyball player Erin Cartwright was named co-Big West Conference player of the week, it was announced on Monday. Cartwright shared the honor with Rebecca Larsen of UC Irvine.

Cartwright, a junior middle blocker/outside hitter from Hyrum, Utah, led the Aggies to a 2-0 record last week as Utah State posted road wins against Cal State Fullerton and UC Riverside. The two wins helped the Aggies improve to 12-13 on the season and 6-8 in the Big West.

For the week, Cartwright hit .442 and averaged 5.75 kills, 2.38 digs, 1.00 blocks and 0.38 service aces per game. She posted a career-high 26 kills against the Titans and had her third double-double of the season against the Highlanders with 20 kills and 10 digs.

It is the second time in the past month that Cartwright has been named co-Big West player of the week as she also won the award on Oct. 14 after leading the Aggies to home wins over Brigham Young, UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton.

It is the seventh time in the last three years that a Utah State student-athlete has received player of the week honors from the Big West Conference, and Cartwright becomes the first player in USU history to win the award twice in the same season.

Utah State will play its final two home matches of the season this weekend as the Aggies host Cal State Northridge on Thurs., Nov. 14 and Pacific on Sat., Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
