LOGAN, Utah — Utah State University is pleased to announce that Doug Bullock, associate vice president of Human Resources, has been named the regional HR Leader of the Year in 2023. The prestigious award, presented by the Bridgerland Chapter of the National Society for Human Resource Management, is a testament to Bullock’s leadership and dedication.

“Doug is not just an experienced human resources leader; he also has a big heart and genuine concern for people, which makes him truly deserving of this award,” said Dave Cowley, USU vice president for Finance and Administrative Services. “It has always been a pleasure working with Doug and we are fortunate to have him here at USU.”

Bullock joined USU in 2017 and since arriving has spearheaded the university’s HR team, elevating service levels and navigating unprecedented challenges, notably during the COVID-19 pandemic. He played an instrumental role in implementing USU’s inaugural telework policy, which underscored his forward-thinking approach and commitment to fostering a supportive work environment.

Bullock credited the collective effort of the HR team and their daily contributions to the university’s success when he accepted the award.

“I hope this award reflects well not only on my efforts, but the HR department and its reputation as a whole,” Bullock said.

Bullock has more than three decades of experience in HR leadership, with his career spanning both the public and private sectors. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Idaho State University and holds an MBA from Boise State University.

Founded in 1948, the National Society for Human Resource Management is the world's largest association devoted to human resource management and represents more than 190,000 individual members. The Bridgerland Chapter serves Cache Valley, Logan, Smithfield, Hyrum, Tremonton, Box Elder, Rich County and up to the Utah/Idaho border.
