Creating Wellness: Free Studio Art Classes at NEHMA
Art Therapist Susie Andruk conducts an art making activity at NEHMA.
The Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art (NEHMA) offers art programs for all ages this summer. Artmaking stimulates different brain areas, improving productivity, innovative thinking, mental health resilience and creativity. “Creating Wellness” is a free, open studio art class led by Art Therapist Susie Andruk.
Andruk leads guided artmaking activities and discussions with themes based on the current exhibitions in NEHMA. Free and open to all, NEHMA welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds to this “wellness-deserved” break in your day. NEHMA also provides free parking.
“Creating Wellness” will be on Fridays, June 7, 14, and 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art. The first theme of the month will center around Jane Catlin’s art and nature studies. Susie Andruk will discuss ways that nature impacts our bodies and souls, making connections to Jane Catlin’s exhibition featuring biological elements, bees and other creatures.
Creating Wellness encourages participants to slow down and enjoy art. Engaging in creative activities such as drawing or crafting provides a therapeutic outlet for expressing emotions and reducing stress. Stop by NEHMA on Fridays in June to participate in Creating Wellness.
